Derren Brown

OMG!!

This was such an amazing night spent with my flatmate Stuart. Being wowed and quite frankly slightly creeped out but the master himself, Derren Brown!

Whilst the show began with a bit of humour it quickly descended into a night of confusion and wonder followed by a step into the unknown with quite amazing results.

We were asked not to give too much away on social networking sights or on blogs to ensure that every future spectator of the show would not be disappointed by spoilers.. SPOILER ALERTS! I was amazed by the journalists who actually took note of this and could not find one article that let slip any of the wonders to be seen during the show.

Even the programme did not show anything from the show as you would expect a programme to do. Instead it was full of insight into Derren Brown and the making of the show along with history of magicians and illusionists. Well worth the purchase both Stuart and myself made.

We sat in our seats, which actually had a brilliant view and watched the wonders of the intricate set. It almost resembled a boiler room of a crazy scientist or even a killer from a horror film.

The main show began with his usual trickery which you can witness in any one of his celebrated TV series. The whole time you were kept guessing, even more so when he had you second guessing your own decisions. As these sorts of "tricks" continued we even had a moment where firearms became a part of the show... Yes!

It was quite a show!

His mind controlling trickery which has never worked on me when it's been on TV, i.e. the show where you were supposed to get "stuck to your chair", actually did have an affect on me in the theatre as I stood up with the other handful of people in the auditorium who could not lower their arms. Stuart was left sitting in his seat as I began to worry that I may be taken up on stage, luckily I was not and someone else was the centre of Derren Browns next trick. Phew!!

It really was an amazing night and I highly recommend that anyone who gets the chance to get tickets goes to see one of his shows live. You will NOT be disappointed.

Walk at Lossie Woods

Went for a really nice walk with my mum and dad today and of course my crazy pooch Molly! I'd never been to the Lossie Woods before and until rather recently my mum and dad didn't even know it existed..which is funny when you think we've lived in the area for like 15 or so years! Was such a lovely walk though and was thoroughly enjoyed by all :) definitely gonna start going along on the doggie walks more often :D

STEPS at the AECC

Had such an awesome time last night going to see Steps at the AECC (or the SECC as I kept calling it.. Oops). Was such a brilliant night with my mum Lorna, my sister Katie and my good friend Louise! Louises first proper concert :) Stopped off in Inverurie for an Ashvale chippy and arrived at the AECC eager for the concert to start.

Shockalady and Mr Smith were the support acts to start off (yup I've never heard of them either) ... Won't be listening to them again!

Steps on the other hand really know how to put on a show and it was amazing! So many good photos taken and some of Louise's brilliant ones can be seen below.

And the traveling begins

Managed to wake up in time for my train this morning at 840.. Doesn't sound overly early but for me mornings are a massive struggle! Love my bed too much :) zzzz

Seen lots of the usual scenery whilst traveling up the east coast to Aberdeen.. Lots of hills and sheep :) even a little bit of snow still on the tippy tops of the hills :) like icing on a big cake!

Ready set for my busy week of work. My guess is I'm gonna be floored working 40+ hours in the next week! Not worked since January ;) just awesome like that haha. Gonna have to make time for uni work and revision too though :(

On a lighter note though... STEPS tomorrow :D

Plans for the coming months..

Got so much lined up for the next few months, gonna be on and off trains like a yo-yo! Proper wee seasoned traveller :)

First up I'm home for a couple of weeks :) Can't wait to see family and friends again, even though it's only been 4 days since I left. I'll be working hard at the bank but need to be a savy student and fit in time for coursework too :/ Possibly facing two weeks of no social life..

Although things get better when I get back to Glasgow. Dragging my inquisitive flatmate Stuart to see Derren Brown at the SECC. He has himself convinced it would be extremely comical to witness me being possessed on stage..maybe not! Told him to catch up with some of the previous live shows on 4oD so he has a better understanding of what it is I am taking him to see :)


My next exciting trip is with some of my UNI FAVS when we embark on a rather random trip to AMSTERDAM! We're gonna go scare ourselves at the DUNGEONS, talk a walk around Madame Tussauds and maybe even cycle along the many rivers :) Ah it's gonna be bliss.. As long as we don't find ourselves in a live version of HOSTEL or HOUSE OF WAX haha! It's gonna be glorious and sunny and I'm gonna have an awesome tan :D Hopefully!

The biggest adventure of the summer though is definitely gonna be moving to BELFASt :D Getting rather excited about the whole prospect now...apart from the slight problem of not yet having a flat sorted :/ Here's hoping I manage to find one during my 4 day visit in May with the parents :) Off to meet a nice N.Irish man ;) oh and find my Leprechaun with some lovely gold :P Must remember to go to work while I'm there though haha. Moving to Ireland will be when the real excitement starts and hopefully this blog will keep being updated :)

First ever post..

Writing this blog is going to take some getting used to! I am not one for keeping track of everything I do but we'll give it a shot :) Got to have some way of remembering everything that I get up to this coming year ... like moving to BELFAST!! :D
